Hello again I have been persuaded by the good actions of Mark Brown and Laurence Piper that I should return to this website. The purpose and need of a Missing Episodes website is invaluable and I have read and taken part in many discussions on this forum over the years. Combining this website with www.lostshows.com our website now still there from the defunct ITV Raiders campaign, gives Joe Public somewhere to go to find out if there 16mm print is rare or not. It is a vital tool to help find old TV and we must treat it as a genuine place to share information. Unfortunately, this website which used to be full of genuine collectors and archivists has gradually lost all of their support as many people hiding behind aliases publicly slagged us off and insulted our good work. Why would we choose to log on to a site that was at one point treating us with rudeness and disrespect? I left this site when a 'guest' described me as "disinterested and incompetent". I have said to Mark that whilst this site remains civil and purposeful I shall return, but if people become abusive or go back to using false names then I will leave again. I don't go anywhere where people slag me off even though they don't know me or my life. In exchange I will try to help people with info if I have time and I will post the year's round-up of what missing Tv has been found over the previous year in October. And loads has been found this year, far too much to post on a week by week basis, but I am happy to put a full list out every October. In the meantime, if you want to see the Midlands version of Goodbye to ABC then we are showing it at our next event on 6th September 2008 in Stourbridge. www.kaleidoscope.org.ukWe also have a defintive Blue Peter book coming out in October at our massive London Blue Peter event (do register, do come please) and its packed full of archive info that posters on this site would love. www.kaleidoscopepublishing.co.ukAnyway, it is a pleasure to return to this site and I hope that from now on things are more polite and people appreciate that there are many people working hard behind the scenes to return missing telly. If we don't post on sites, it's just that we are busy doing other stuff normally actually finding the stuff, lol, or doing stuff like working. Thanks Chris Perry Kaleidoscope

Welcome back, Chris!
Those people were talking out of a certain part of their anatomy!
As an ex-Classics teacher, may I recommend the phrase "Ne te confunadant illigitimi" (Don't let the bastards grind you down)
Look forward to seeing you at the next Kal event, which is just around the corner.
Anyone who has not been, it's fantastic.
The abc show is worth going for on its own.

I have been here a couple of years and I cant remember you personally being described as 'disinterested and incompetent' . Could have been a fleeting remark to your org by a passer by? but then obviously I dont read everything.
There are plenty who enjoy what you say, but dont always expect people not question it if you make a claim . (I usually remove my threads if someone says they are dodgy- because they could be right?)
From what I remember, you seem to be spoiling for a fight if anybody questions your contributions, then claim to be being insulted. These after all are a few words on a public forum? As in real life, some people like a bit of mischief. Your bigger than that after all, and your achievements have been many.
I for one enjoy your contributions and its nice to have you back.

Chris, welcome back and it is good to see you here again.
What you said about this site and forum is spot on. I take part in various forums and have been a part of this one for the last 7 years and I must admit. it's the one I've gained a LOT of knowledge here in relation to missing and existing TV from the days when I regard TV as being "good"!
I have also chatted and corresponded with various other members here, all of whom have been extremely polite and helpful. I do love this place!
It's very rare one gets the chance to praise the merits of this forum. I have found in every forum I've been a part of, you will always get a handful of loonies who like to do nothing but gain attention by hoaxing or flaming. They're contributing nothing nor are partaking in the spirit of goodwill that is prevalent here, and the best one can do is ignore them.
I've never been to any Kaleidoscope events due to high travel costs and expenses but I do hope to catch one one day. These events are without doubt a vital contribution, giving us the chance to see rare TV materials along with recent recoveries. It never fails to amaze me what turns up. Lawrence Piper has said he adopts the "never say never" stance and like all of us, I await news of new discoveries with great interest and pride as people like yourselves actively work to find and recover lost gems.
Keep up the great work - everybody!

Hi Reg
I am never spoiling for a fight, lol. Anyone who knows me will tell you that I am an incredibly laidback guy, but you are right when you say that I will always defend my friends and colleagues. They would defend me in a similar situation I know. Or sometimes I make no public comment because negotiations are so tricky that I can't say a word. People have to respect that.
But I, like all of us, will not be personally insulted by people who either hide behind an alias, or indeed make comments when they know none of the facts of the case.
I am very happy for people to question any claim I make, or make corrections if I am wrong and indeed give me the right info if I am talking rubbish. That's the whole ethos of Kal, there are many of us, we have a long list of thank yous in our books and we don't know all the answers, so we need all the help we can get mate. :-)

What Chris says about forum politeness and respect for other views goes for me too. In fact, i'll continue to take a very hard line and simply delete without warning smart one-liners and anything that encourages hostility or a bad atmosphere on the forum (not that i've needed to very much lately though as there's been much interesting discussion!). It spoils it for the rest of us who just like to further the debate on missing TV (and hopefully recover more of it as a result). Welcome back Chris. We need more like you (and Kal) around!

Thanks Chris Perry Kaleidoscope Hi Chris - well there's lots of trolls who simply do this type of thing specifically to sabotage and wear down genuine members who know their TV history well and who we want on these forums! In others words people like yourself. From what I know of you you're very hands on in the subject; and very competant from what I can see so the person who said that was obviously misinformed or wrong! Nice to have you back!

Great to see you back, Chris. I was very sad at the nonsense and rudeness that caused you to leave.

I'm also back after about a years absence due to online harrassment, I only hope the new way forward will prove worthwhile, and keeps the rubbish out.

As someone who rather reads than writes on forums like these, I can only say the input of people like you is highly appreciated (by me, at least). Please don't be put off by morons, and keep up the good work. Glad to see you're back. ;-)

How anyone can be derogatory about the excellent work of Mr Perry and his Kaleidoscope team is beyond understanding. However, there are those who sneer at anything constructive and worthwhile. Unhappily, there are negative minded individuals who like to undermine any activity, if it doesn't fit in with their attitudes, e.g. the demolition of the BBC Television Centre, to which I am opposed, was enough for some characters to proclaim me to be anti BBC, while others think I am too pro BBC. I am neither.
I say, carry on regardless!
Yours,

Chris, you're one of the good guys and exactly the sort of person, given your knowledge and passion for the missing TV situation, that should be on this forum. Don't let the trolls get you down.
