apparently this missing 1962 BBC play featuring Bob Dylan survives as an audio recording - I don't think this has been mentioned before when it's been discussed. can anyone confirm this from the audio clip here : www.tvtalkin.com/downloads.htm

Several audio clips have been officially released,I believe.I think only the songs Ballad of the Gliding Swans (not written by Dylan.Reference to Thalidomide) www.youtube.com/watch?v=NDGJoMv_n0M ,Blowin' in the Wind, survive,no dialogue? Girl From the North Country hadn't been written by then. The BBC documentary Dylan at the Madhouse was very good.

IIRC wasn't there an announcement at the end of the BBC Doc that a complete audio had been returned?

IIRC wasn't there an announcement at the end of the BBC Doc that a complete audio had been returned? I thought it was that a third, clearer, audio had emerged-of the songs.Surprised no-one's uploaded the doc.Very good footage of that bleak Winter-not that they had much else to show-I think there's only one production photo?

You could well be right, John but I could have sworn that the announcement was that a full recording had been found, hang on I might have copied the doc to DVD, will take a look tomorrow after work

Dylan was flown over to play a role in the play, but when it became evident that he couldn't act-apart from playing Dylan-his part was cut back considerably.Lucky not to have to refund the air-fare and take a fee-cut!

Legend has it that when the doc was originally started, the folks making it had no idea that so little material survived, which would explain the "thin" feel of the finished program. Dunno how true this is but it's hard to imagine even BBC4 commissioning a documentary on next to nothing! Still all things considered they made a pretty decent job of it.
