I guess expressing opinions contrary to the majority are not allowed then? I'll not bother to contibute my knowledge that might possibly help others on this thread in future then. I can't speak for anyone else, but it really doesn't bother me at all if you're not particularly a DW fan. This is, after all, a forum about locating missing episodes, not a DW Squee Club. I'd rather read sensible suggestions from someone like yourself, than some of the silly suggestions made by fans over the years. Personally, I can't stand Dad's Army, but I'm finding all the talk in this thread about that show's missing episodes quite fascinating.

Blimey OK that's what the papers were for.. Thanks Martin I thought post 79 there was a Unified feel to the ABC.. i think there might have been some hoopla on air bout it too. That I'm commenting about Dad's army is besides the point.. the SAME fate happened to the tapes and the same "Oh look we found em" happened to BOTH series at the ABC Circa 1984.. But it looks like some rareish Dad's army's were shipped over to NZ and even to local Commercial Broadcasters in the mid 80's. This could have happened to DR who.. I'm trying to get some rescerh done on the whole DA issue as it (and i know it will) shed some new light on the fate of abc dr who VT and TR's.. right? And as far as the papers go.. they were flooded out.. i kept em for about 15 years and was going to do some private recerch on it ( about 5 years ago if you put ANY "ideas" on here 10 charlies would be ringing up,emailing, and even calling on those who needed to be treated with respect) so I told no one.. (hell i thought it was common knowledge!) but before i could do anything we had a flood and i lost the papers.. blimey it must not be that hard to get copies form somewhere... anyone in Queensland with acses to micro phish at a library!!.. geezz make you wonder.. but again if you can do it on the net it aint real research is it!!) but anyhow. does anyone see the similarities between dads army and dr at the abc?.. Hey I made the papers with a bit about missing episodes here a week ago.. pity the "copy" was edited and such.. see it here and a short Film i made from over 40 docos for a DAD"S ARMY Production.. what did i do when interviewed.. I went on about missing epps.. AND it go in the papers.. see that's how you try to find this stuff! And Dave I know you'll get a kick out of my film as did the 1000's who saw the show.. (sorry no daleks.. ill get one in next production) ade42.blogspot.com/2008/08/dads-army-film.htmlAde42.blogspot.com check the page out if you like the sound of 78's remastered (properly) (ive even got a Libary Album on there no one's heard) That looks like an interesting blog! Im going to go through that and check some of your stuff when ive got a few hours spare! Thanks!

Pertinent info would be the paper's title, place and dates of publication, dates/times in the listings the Who episodes appeared and edition (State, Final etc.).
You can check public holdings in the National Library's Libraries Australia metasearch.
I've posted previously on how I was doing listings research at the State Library of South Australia when I found they had a paper run of the Perth Sunday Times, apparently superior to the runs held at NLA, the State Library of WA or even News Corporation. And I qualify this statement because it was the institutions themselves who determined their holdings were inferior. This was before the SLSA has renovations; a librarian told me the silly old workmen mistook the basement shelves for stepladders, easily determined by their great clodhopper footprints they left over shelved items.
So short sighted of News lawyers to stop the Doctor Who Cuttings Archive maintaining their Who stories; Roger Anderson said that after he was forced to remove the clippings it was News journalists who wrote to him as they'd been using the site! Rupert--your lawyers are idiots!

Thanks Tom, I have emailed Bruce Grenville and let him know of the link. Great! I hope he enjoys it if he does not already have a copy, and he's always welcome to a copy for himself as well.

Apologies for the bump but this is crazy: Given the circumstances surrounding Lion, and its eventual return, I would STRONGLY suggest that the other 3 parts (1 of which we don't need anyway) are still in NZ. There's absolutely no evidence to suggest that they are. Richard well try telling that to the film collector Ive met who claims to have had two of them for most of the 70s and then onsold them at a film collectors fair in the early 80s. hes got enough ex NZBC stuff for me to believe him....... secondly ive met the person who enabled "walkies" for various prints out of the NZBC and TVNZ , so "official" documentation about what was and wasnt destroyed is highly suspect.... ...And I would love to hear more about it!
