Oft stated that most of the material still held in the sales vault at Villiers was in part due to a late sale of the 1st 2 seasons to Algeria.
I can understand why 'The Crusade' was not bought. But why wasn't 'Marco Polo' or 'Tyrant of France' bought? Especially given that Marco Polo was the most bought story of the time and Tyrant of France was close behind too.

Replying to myself here Just realised that Algeria is a former French colony. Obviously didn't want to upset ties with France by buying Tyrant of France. but that still doesn't explain Marco Polo.

I don't think they bought the semi-historical 'Time Meddler' either. Maybe they were more selective about historical stories because they were potentially contentious and less popular with local audiences.

are you telling us that marco polo actually exists somewhere in algeria? No, I was just stating that it seemed weird that they didn't buy Marco Polo given that it wasn't a muslim themed story like 'Crusade', and that it was the one story which seemingly everybody else who ever screened Dr Who, bought. Seemingly very picky those Algerians.

I always thought that that material wasnt definitely returned from Algeria, only probably, via a process of elimination. I might be wrong on that.
It would be very nice to see marco polo, but I would be more excited about Troughton returns, theres so little of it in the archives, an era which is relatively unrepresented by a lot of its classics.

Even though I have never seen Marco Polo, or the missing Troughtons either. I would have to agree that a missing return would be more welcome from the Troughton side given that so little is left.
