We may think we are all very clever and not be detroying material that could be used in the future. Howver we are still making the same mistakes. Interactive TV is only been held for 60 days and then being deleted. Some programs less than that. I worked for Sky TV in their interactive TV department, but I assume the same thing is happening there. Is the BFI hold this stuff? I think not. I reckon that in 30 years time some private collectors may be selling off some of this stuff on ebay.

Hi
What do you mean by interactive TV? Is that the old "Press Red" bit on satellite? If so, isnt that more of an information service than television?
Are there any programs these days which get wiped after transmision? Or are they considered to be pretty safe?

if you press the red button while on BBC, you get BBCi
scroll doen and find the interactive hidden goodies (the best ones appear just after 9pm)
when things like pop idol are on (sic) etc etc, you get special behind the scenes (a bit like big brother etc), and special TOTP's also there are little seasonal shows too like the easter VIC's CHICKS (vic reeves introduces loads of chickens of the world)
and at xmas the advent calendar with archive goodies.
all hidden away, and not just teletext
The best place of a daily dose of vintage TOTP shows and other vintage (complete shows, dont you think)
go on press the button............

So does this mean that Sky Sports Interactive Premiership football coverage is only held for 60 days? The alternative camera angles and Fanzone commentaries aren't kept for posterity?

That's right, they are probably gone.<br> The information content for things this Sky Sports Active and News Active will be lost too.

Anybody watch the Wimbledon interactive stuff when play's ended?
You can hear the crew talking sometimes, and you see camera's pointing at things that there not supposed to!
I don't anyone would be interested in watching hours and hours of the Sky News centre though, only time it's interested is when they have press conferences or go live somewhere, THAT's when it gets really interesting!
