Hi there,
Please could somebody confirm for me an episode of Coronation Street that was filmed in colour on location 16mm, I think it was in 1969 the bus crash scene but was shown in b&w due to technical problems
Cheers, Ollie KIELL

This was possibly part of the great colour strike of 1970. Union action resulted in studio productions being made in black and white, however the crew who did the outside stuff were not affected, so you had a rather slapstick situation where in a couple of productions made at the time an actor would walk from B/W inside to outside into glorious colour.

That's right, and of course the first few episodes of Upstairs Downstairs were only made in black and white, so when the strike was over the very first episode was reshot in colour (with only a very minor cast change) so that it could be repeated in colour as a prelude to the 2nd (colour) series.

The colour strike, I've got the impression from this site, happened later, didn't it ?
