...and Malcolm Ryder trying to poison / send Meg mad...and Marilyn Gates regenerating from a brassy blonde into a middle class brunette! A lot of fun! I also recall Eve, the "ugly duckling" (she who had the nose-job; the most unsightly thing you could imagine stuck on so that she could have cosmetic surgery and suddenly all the men were falling over themselves to ask her out!) Anyone know what period she was in the show? I seem to think it was late '60s / early '70s again.

I think Eve might have been Tess and was in it when Diane Keen was in it as a waitress, but cant be sure.
I certainly dont remember any of this 'wobbly sets' stuff these so called television experts talk about . I recall some of them watching for their que when the scene changed, and also looking a bit terrified when an obviously huge camera rumbled up close to them LOL I stopped watching around 84 but previous to that I am glad to have experienced this wonderful bit of escapism that anybody of any age or gender could watch.

Her name was definitely Eve and i've got a photo of her in a Crossroads souvenir magazine from the early '70s somewhere. You may be right about her appearing around the era of Diane Keen though. Yes, the "television experts" who talk about wobbly sets are people like Hilary Kingsley, who bring out insubstantial books on TV, trotting out badly researched folklore and it eventually becomes accepted as "fact". I never ever saw any sets wobble either and I was watching from day 1 in the London area on and off all along. Dianes brother Dennis?turning up out of the blue cant recall date though? Dennis made several reappearances. The latest I can think of was around 1981 / 2, as he's in a string of episodes I have from that time, up to his usual shady tricks (trying to blackmail Benny, if memory serves me right)!

Got thinking about my own Crossroads memories and remembered the Mrs Witton character who was marvellously played by Jo Richardson - she was the foil to dear old Amy Turtle. I remember Mrs Witton been hastily written out when the actress died whilst on holiday in the Seychelles in the mid 70s (think she disapeared). Anyway I googled her and found a nice tribute to Jo on a thorough looking Crossroads site many of you might not have seen jhochet.tripod.com/index.htmlEnjoy!
