I'm visiting Nuneaton tomorrow, which got me wondering about the archive status of Larry Grayson's appearances on ATV's Saturday variety show, and the Leslie Crowther show, plus Larry's own Shut that Door. Anybody know ? Presumably all his Generation Games shows exist, but what about his guest appearance on Crossroads ?

According to Kal, roughly two thirds of the Sat Variety shows exist on colour tape but only only one Shut That Door - typically random ATV "archiving" policy for you, I suppose. I remember his Crossroads appearance myself - any idea what it was though? I can't seem to date it at all in my mind. This might help to work out what the chance of it surviving was; presumably it was post-'72, when he came to fame (so there's a slight to reasonable chance, i'd say). I think all the Generation Games exist, being much later (and the fact that that show is all intact apart from the first series). What was the name of the Crowther series he appeared in then?

Some of the Crossroads appearance survives, at least. Clip-shows have shown him playing a chauffer, giving a lift to his friend Noele Gordon.

in our family we were banned from watching larry in the 70s. he was thought to be too poofy. very innocent compared to the muck on today.

Larry also appears in one of the few Golden Shots archived - the 18/11/73 edition with Norman Vaughan - I'm sure he makes some reference about being in Crossroads at the time?

Suggest you ask one of the sellers listing it on ebay - they should be able to tell you for sure. cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=4180924861&category=61067

Grayson appeared twice on "Crossroads".
The first was as himself, staying at the motel for an episode. Somewhere around 1972/3.
The second was as the chauffeur in Meg's 174th wedding. 1975 or thereabouts.
The wedding exists, though the first doesn't seem to have survived. At least there's been no clips surfacing from it in any of those Grayson biog shows.
