With the immenient Invasion (I mean release) of the Invasion DVD with two episodes animated which of the following stories would people like to see released with their missing episodes animated.
The Reign of Terror The Crusades The Tenth Planet The Moonbase The Ice Warriors
I'd really like to see the Moonbase next becuase I've read a lot of good things about episode 3 and would love to see it.

I'd go for 'The Tenth Planet', as I've never seen it. I don't think the BBC will rush to animate the historical stories. Science fiction is probably the more lucrative market. We'll find out when 'The Invasion' is released. Not sure 'The Moonbase' will come anytime soon. The 'Lost in Time' DVD featured parts 2 and 4, plus the soundtracks for the missing episodes 1 and 3. Maybe it could be (re)released on a double bill with 'Tenth Planet', but that seems a long shot.

Tenth Planet probably does seem most likely as its only one episode, and its Hartnell's last story. May be they could animate part 1 of the power of the daleks as a bonus feature for the disc. You're probably right about the moonbase, but the crusade is a very popular story among the b&w fans probabaly just behind marco polo. However, it could be the Ice Warriors as it the only other story from Troughton's second season that could be released.

'The Crusade' is a good story but it's in the same position as 'The Moonbase' - the two surviving episodes and soundtracks for the missing episodes are on the 'Lost in Time' DVD. 'The Ice Warriors' is a strong candidate for animated restoration, though I find it a bit of a plod. Another four part story stretched to six. Still, Peter Barkworth, Peter Sallis and Bernard Bresslaw give it their all, despite the repetitive script.

Just seen the Invasion, It's odd to see it, apparently done by the same people who did dangermouse, rather more dramatic than the live episodes I suspect.

It does look rather good and gives the right feel to the story hope another story gets the same treatment and my vote goes to Tenth Planet.

Surely The Ice Warriors is the most likely follow-up: a six-parter needing two animated, where The Invasion was eight and two. If the job done on the latter is anything to go by, a great new phenomenon has arrived. Does anyone know if sales were epsecially impressive?

Yes - most people don't understand the enormity of costs involved with animation or post-production work.
In New Zealand, for example, On-Line editing costs - on average - $600 an hour - about 200 quid (and that's without an operator).
Post and animation also takes a ridiculous amout of time to achieve too (incl. rendering and printing of effects like Combustion, Inferno, Flame etc.). By way of example one episode of a local reality-based police show took around 50 hours to edit (mind you it was an all-out effort as the raw footage arrived 3 and a half days before the broadcast date/time).

Hasn't Genesis sold quite well though, being pretty much the number one classic story? Even if Invasion hasn't sold as well as Genesis it still must have sold quite well.

Well from what i have gathered from forums Genesis sold over 30,000 in about a month and the first 2 weeks the invasion sold 16,000 which is supposidly a very good preformance for a black and white clasic who story.
