Yes I think it looks like the real article as well hope that it gets back to the BBC.

Well it certainly looks authentic. Unless it's the most elaborate hoax ever. The only thing that makes me suspicious is the timing. I publicly reveal the infornmation that "Nidus" claims to have seen missing episodes from Troughton. His friends kick up a huge stink and my thread is pulled from OG. I get a brand new forum. This appears on it. Could be coincidence Could also be massive hoax. But it DOES look real to my eyes.

Are the various numbers on the label capable of being matched with the official codes which *should* be there? Stuart

Thing is though, it's quite possible to find out what the serial numbers actually were for that story (VTC numbers etc.) via written archives at BBC Caversham and used to fake a VT label, which does tend to make me a bit sceptical (as I recall many elaborate hoaxes in the past). However, I hope it turns out to be true (and that not only some Mind Of Evil footage but a Troughton episode and some TOTP is unearthed too); the proof of the pudding is whether or not someone like Ian Levene or one of the RT can gain access to the material and identify it.

I have to say, I am extremely optimistic about this lead, lets hope the man gets some more pcitures, especially of the Troughton one. A question Ian, will the £2K reward apply to the mind of evil 3 if you get proof is genuine?

Yes, it is easy to get hold of the VTC numbers but to make the whole thing look roiaganl without looking "to good to be true" is tricky. I can see people making stories up but would they really bother to go to the lengths required to fake the picture of the videotape?

Which is why we've had some of the hoaxes we've had in the past. It could possibly just be an attempt to out-hoax what's gone before...but you never know! I remain hopeful, as everyone does. By the way, what's " roiaganl"?

Well, if true then it's a great find in terms of at last having some colour material from that story (which would also act as a reference when restoring the other parts of it). No official word from respected sources on it so far though.
I'm left wondering about the Top Of The Pops and Troughton material too though..!

I am very optimistic about this, if only the seller could be persuaded to hand them over. Richard Bignell, if your out there, how much actual episode footage could be on the tape?

Looks like Ian might have got it wrong, it could still be the entire episode 3 . . .

Looking at the first image again, if it is a fake or mock-up it's a good one.
That said, there's a certain blocky quality to the label when magnified, both along the strip where the '3' is written and to bottom right of the label and where the label meets the tape.
Still, fingers crossed it's true...
