A strong comic cast combined for this medieval musical fantasy, written by Barry and Maurice Gibb of the Bee Gees. They, indeed, were the main stars, along with other musical guests Lulu and, bizarrely, the rock supergroup Blind Faith.

Crew Barry Gibb - Writer Maurice Gibb - Writer Hugh Gladwish - Director Robert Stigwood - Executive Producer Mike Mansfield - Producer

I recall a bit of an embarassment for all concerned, sixties wackiness when the world had moved on.So not likely to resurface officially unless time has been kind.

Has Cucumber Castle ever been released on video, I think it is to much to ask for a DVD?

It does exist ;D and you can order it from a guy i know called Edward Leslie for around about $25 (Canadian)
His email is edwardleslie@hotmail.com
It`s a great show , very funny and well worth a watch . It doesn`t have Robin Gibb in though as he`d temporary left by then!

Re what Laurence Piper says above - this does not exist in the BBC archives on colour vt, or anything else. Without looking it up, I think it was a bought-in programme (possibly Robert Stigwood Organisation?), so it probably does exist elsewhere.

I've seen a clip of CC on colour film in a Bee Gees documentary in the late 80's. There were documentaries of The Kinks & T.Rex in the same series, and those two were released on Virgin home video, but I never saw the Bee Gees one in the shops. The docs were shown on C4 very late at night (or if you prefer, early in the morning!), but I don't recall them ever being repeated. They were definitely foreign, but with voice-overs by Tommy Vance.

The show does definitely exist but I assumed it was a BBC production (and therefore existed in their archives). I hadn't heard it was an independently made production. Anyone know by whom?

I saw a bit on the BeeGees` This Is Your Life from 1991 so someone at ITV must have a copy/ can get hold of a copy .(unless of course they got in contact with one of their family who dug it out the loft!)
I have a copy if anyone wants to contact me .
