Hey
i was talking to a friend last night , i told him that i wanted to record music on to an old reel to reel. He then told me he had one, which his dad used to tape stuff of the radio. we believe from about 1966-1975 possivly earlier. My friend told me his dad still had the reels and there was about 15 reels pilled up in his bedroom, still in there cases.
He told me he knew that some contained The Goons Show.
so is any Goons Misssing?
im making a list of stuff to send to my mate to ask his dad about.
cheers
Joe

there's TONS of Goon Shows missing, although if your friends recordings only start at 1966, I doubt if he has anything, BUT............it's defintely worth a try.

is there a list of missing stuff? it could be possible that he started recrding before.
what age range does the goon show supply for? is it a young adult program or is it for teenagers or adults? Because it might be possible that he recorded earlier. from about 1960 onwards. i took an educated guess at that time but it could be possible.

It might be worth asking (without scaring the guy off totally!) what type of programme he recorded. There are some comedy shows in the 1960s for which only one episode (if that) officially exists. There are some drama items which would be very important finds. Last (and not least) any titles/dates would be useful. It's highly unlikely that any missing Goon Shows would be found, but other stuff could be actually far more interesting.

Hey Joe,
At least you tried and worked on this lead Joe. This happened to me too of late regarding the Hancock 1/2 hour reel to reel audio's I had found, along with the Scott Walker MP3-CD recordings.
Thanks Again for all the Hard work, and keeping us all updated on this project.
Lance.

There are loads of goons missing. the 1st to 4th series. but some of us have home recordings of most of series 4 and 2 (that apparently milligan tapes) from the 2nd series.. Ive been hunting down goon shows for 20 odd years and have boxes and boxes of open reel, home recoreded acceteates begged borrowd etc . but have only found 2 realy missing 4th series show.. and that was well over 10 years ago now.. This year alone ive gone though 40 odd 12-16 inch accetates and did find loads of goon shows. but they were all TSO or TSR ie Edited 29 or 27 min versions which the beeb have all off i do hope that more shows turn up but then if you have read the srips most of the pre-5TH seroies wasn't much good. !!

Hi Ade, where did your 12" and 16" acetate discs originate from (just curious)?
