This August, Pirate BBC Essex returns to mark the 40th anniversary of the Marine Offences Act which set out to outlaw the offshore stations. DJ's include Johnnie Walker, Emperor Rosko, Dave Cash and Keith Skues, amongst others. Pirate BBC Essex goes on air at 6 am on Thursday 9 August, and in a parallel with what happened in 1967, is scheduled to go off air at 3 pm on Tuesday 14 August. A Pirate BBC Essex exhibition charting the history of British offshore radio will be mounted in the Harwich Ha’penny Pier office and will include rare artefacts. Listeners will be able to tune in to Pirate BBC Essex across the world via computer at bbc.co.uk/essex as well as via the more traditional medium wave at 729, 765 and 1530. Listeners will also be able to email and text Pirate BBC Essex. “We can promise fun and some great music from 1964 to 1967 including some gems not heard since the sixties. Many thanks to Dave Cash & "Emily" for sending me the press release.

Thanks Gary for posting those pictures and alerting me to the event. You may be interested in this story on the excellent Digital Spy website www.digitalspy.co.uk/radio/a70665/weekend-spy-a-pirates-life-for-me.htmlIt was good listening just after Classic Gold London has disappeared from my DAB radio after merging with the inferior Capital Gold to become Gold (full story on Digital Spy forums). Tony Blackburn is now in KMFM in Kent. Sorry if this is off the topic of missing episodes!
