I've just been handed a BBC radio programme called Down Your Way from the early 70s. As far as I know it was a regional programme travelling weekly from place to place. Has anyone ever heard of it or know any more. I guess it isn't very important nationally but it does have some local worth.

Down Your Way wasn't regional, to the best of my knowledge - it was networked, but it concentrated, each week, on a different place. I'm pretty sure it was Brian Johnston's gig towards the end. What's the location for the edition in your possession?

It was recorded in a little Cheshire town called Northwich during the early 70s. I phoned up the Beeb about this and they did a check on its status - it seems it is missing but the archivist I spoke to said it was unlikely that they would request a copy as they 'can't keep everything'!

I wouldn't describe Northwich as little. I'm pretty sure it's been heavily industrialised by the likes of ICI. Which dept of the BBC did you speak to? I'd bung a copy in the post to Windmill Road anyway.

Anthony
Drop me a line through my website (www.britishcomedy.org.uk) as I would be interested in preserving a copy for posterity.
