we're probably all familiar with this footage. I did hear once that the film was a mixture of two different performances in the hotel room, can anyone elaborate for me?

Don't know whether it's two performances or not, but it was shot by a 16mm crew for a John & Yoko film called "Bed Peace", the same footage being used ever since. I don't know how many cameras they had, but it could easily have been shot at least twice.
It was filmed in their Hotel room at their 2nd bed-in in Montreal, Canada.
Shortly to be seen in a BBC documentary called "John Lennon's Revolution"...

There are probably some cut-ins from the rehearsal(s). I haven’t studied the shots closely but I felt I was watching a slightly different compilation of shots on “The John Lennon Collection” video to that which I’d been previously been used to and even more so on the “Lennon Legend” DVD.

Seem to remember this had the 'original' soundtrack rather than the single dubbed onto it - though it's been a while...
