Earlier this year,on Dr Who Confidential, they showed a clip of Jimmy Saville at the beginning of the new years day 1964 edition of TOTP.Does anymore of this first ever TOTP exist?I don't think the whole edition exists because according to the BBC TOTP website the oldest complete edition in existence is the boxing day 1967 one.If that's the case, what other complete editions exist from the 60s?.

That excerpt isn't from 1/1/64, it was redone for one of TOTP's anniversaries many years later.

I haven't got the precise dates of the 4 existing episodes of TOTP from the 60s but they are the Boxing Day 1967 as mentioned, one from February 1968 hosted by Jimmy Savile and Dave Cash, June or July 1968 hosted by Jimmy Savile and February 1969 hosted by Stuart Henry. Thats your lot I'm afraid and to make matters worse, the last two are unbroadcastable because the DJ links are "mute" though some but not all of Stuart Henrys' links survive. This has been covered in depth on earlier threads and I think you'll find the broadcast dates on them as well.

one little nugget of information is
did anyone watch "A history of A Question Of Sport" the other week
they showed the church in Dickenson Rd Manchester where they did TOTP from 1964 - 66 (in colour)
as they also launched "A question of sport" in the same chaurch from 1970 - 73 !!
i thought it was demolished in the 60's, obviously not until the 80's
