Channel 4 last night (14/07/05), it included a short interview with the BBC engineer who saved all those ‘60s clips on tapes which he then stored in the air vents! Also interviews with Tony Wilson, Babs from Pans and Sir James Saville. Many familiar TOTP clips (horribly cropped), but some stuff I haven’t seen before including the opening titles of “So it goes” and 2 other bands who were on that Pistols edition, a wonderful clip too of Jerry Lee Lewis from 1964, on Granada’s “Whole lotts shakin’” and a bizarre performance from Dave Berry doing the “Crying Game” on itv in 1975. A very enjoyable show, it just had to be with Jarvis presenting it.

What was the name of the show that the clip of Jimmy Saville presenting called. not the topt one? it was a sixties black and white one! Wasn't it Jimmy Savile's Pop Shop? Never heard of it before, though! Great show from Jarvis - the only quibble I'd have it why, when they were eulogising over the audience on 'Whole Lotta Shakin', did they feel the need to cut in a load of audience shots from the surviving edition of 'The Beat Room'? Completely different audience dancing to completely different music on a completely different programme on the BBC, produced by Barry Langford and not Johnny Hamp! Rather diminished the point they were making, I thought.....but then what do I know?

Yeah I was just going to ask the same question.
Maybe they think 'filmising' makes it look better.
I don't, I'd rather see the clips as they were originally broadcast.
