am I right in thinking that Ringo guested on one of Cilla's programmes in late 1969 and performed 'Octopus's Garden'?? If so, (and I've got the soundtrack on a Beatles bootleg) who re-recorded the backing track for him? It certainly sounds like 1969-era Ringo on drums, but who else is on it, as it's not the Beatles released recording with a new vocal. Any ideas anyone??

It was for a George Martin Special produced by Yorkshire Television called “With a little help from my friends” recorded in colour on 14th December 1969 (tx on most ITV regions on Christmas Eve). Other acts were: Blue Mink, The Hollies, Pans People, Spike Milligan, Dudley Moore and Lulu. I very much doubt that any visual record of it survives other than photographs taken from the side of the stage.
