Can't find similar old threads; but to recap.
I seem to recall some time ago correspondents were gathering all instances they know of regarding existing SCHOOLS television from the 60s and 70s.
To start updating this - one of the titles I quoted was an adaption of a literary horror story in a period setting by ITV.
Running still as late as 1978 - 79; when I saw it; I believed this to be an edition of WRITERS WORKSHOP. Possibly titled 'the Labyrinth'. It featured a maze. Thought it was made by Grampian or ATV.
This was later identified as having been made by Yorkshire; also on film stock.
Strangely I was discussing this again recently; when somebody told me it was an adaption of an M.R. James story which features as an extra on the new CASTING OF THE RUNES (ITV PLAYHOUSE 1979) DVD.
The actual series was MUSIC SCENE. Made in 1976 the show aims to illustrate the role music has in creating mood. This was seen in context of the gothic adaption run as part of it. It's actual title is 'MR HUMPHREYS AND HIS INHERITANCE'.
The most notable image I recalled was as a writer accidentally made an ink blot on a page which became a tunnel to the Earths core where an animated decomposed face was seen to scream.
To update on other schools; the following item extracts feature in Thames' '21 YEARS OF SCHOOLS' documentary from 1978.
Where I have no title I've described the content:
('Midsummer nights dream' Benny Hill - Rediffusion 1964;
'early French programme' unidentified B+W c. 60 - 62;
'Finding out' c. 1964 - edition features the freezing of a rubber tennis ball until solid;
'Juilus Caeser or Shakespeare adaption' Nigel Green c. 62 - 64;
'Physics programme - unidentified' c. 62 - 64;
'programme featuring a sculptor' c. 62 - 64;
'Picture palace' c. 64 - 65;
'Programme on dolls - unidentified colour film' c. 69 - 70;
'Romeo and Juliet' - Rediffusion 1962;
'Romeo and Juliet' (Jane Asher) - Rediffusion c. 64;
'Romeo and Juliet' (Christopher Neame) - Thames 1977;
'Decorating as career programme; partly in French' - colour unidentified c. mid 70s;
'The English Language' Thames 1977.
Better get this posted then update others.

General recap -
The earliest schools programme I've seen is 'HISTORY OF THE MOTOR CAR'. This dates from 1959; I may not have the exact correct title there.
The B.B.C. have some very early editions of AROUND SCOTLAND. These date from 60 - 62.
'Stop look Listen' (ATV). - I looked up on the ITN archive a while back and it seemed the series was mainly made on film stock and there seemed to be an enormous amount of editions from 1971 onwards.
'Merry go round' (BBC). - The earliest editions I recall notes for were the adaption of 'Toms midnight garden' from 1968; and series of 3 programmes from 1970 'sex education'. Of the former the VTs of parts 1 and 3 seem to have later been wiped by the educatinal dept. Presumably episode 2 was made as a T/R as this survives with film inserts for the other 2.
Each of the individual 'sex education' shows (on VT); were remade with the same titles in 1977; these appear to be colour updates with segments from the original B+W shows inserted.
'Music time' (BBC) - Nothing exists prior to 1970. There's a similar music series (can't name to mind); existing at the BBC which dates from 1966 and of which a number of editions are held.
'20th Century Focus' (BBC 1966 - 76). - These appear to have all been made as 35mm film and retained.
'Science session'. - All the 1969 series except the 'pop' editions; according to Laurence piper and Andrew Martin; exist.
'Look' - (BBC) (c 65 - 67). - Some editions and film inserts exist as rebroadcast remakes.
Forgotten title - RONALD LACEY PRESENTED SERIES (BBC) - Haven't the titles to hand but this series was broadcast between 1968 and 71 and all appear to be held.
'Look and Read' (BBC) - For the early period; 1968 series 'Len and the River Mob'; film inserts exist.
One show may be a T/R of the whole programme as presenter Keith Barron features.
'Boy from Space' 1971. - The self contained titled episodes exist but the original VT links were remade (originals wiped); in 1978 then 1980.
'Joe and the Sheep Rustlers' 1973 onwards exist as complete shows with the contained film segments.
'Watch' (BBC) - The earliest surviving are from c. 65 - 67; I believe there are 2 from 1967. Holdings are fair from 1971 onwards on VT when Toni Arthur presented.
'Scene' (BBC) - Both the NFA (who had some the beeb didn't); and BBC have I think about half the 68 and 69 drama series. A number of scenes from 67 on were factual and not all these survive.
'Going to work' (BBC) - Seems most were made on film and a large number exist from 1964 onwards.
'OUT OF SCHOOL' for ITV 1974 and 75 exist with the presenter links. Included are excerpts from the Joanna Whalley 'How we used to live' series.
Theres a B+W Fred Dineage studio debate from 1974. Would appear to be a Shibaden source but the only surviving material is the end titles play out and the ITV schools slide link.
I believe a number of known editions of various ITV schools exist as complete or partial off airs in various sequences from the 1973 - 76 period.
Can anyone expand on this?

Two years ago I bought an ATV b/w 16mm print of a programme called 'EVR in Education'. It is copyrighted ATV 1969.
The programme, for teachers, publicised the 'EVR cassette' - some sort of early video loan system for schools which never got off the ground.
I lent the print to the BFI, who have produced a full report of the contents on their database.
The 30 minute programme showcases long clips from ITV's schools output in the late sixties. Although some of the clips have been cut out of the print (no idea why), some remain. There may be some good clips there of otherwise missing episodes.
By the way, the BFI only found one other brief mention of EVR in their archives - so the EVR system must have been abandoned quickly.

I wonder if the shows those clips were taken from in 1978 still exist though?!? I do hope so.

There was a schools prog that was the (i think) basis of that parody schools programme on BBC2, was it ' look here' or something? made about a year ago Anyway the programme was 'Experiment' made in the 60s in colour, well made and thus was rerun throught the 70s. I would take a guess that it is still around?

Any Television Clubs doing the rounds or Merry-Go -Round. Hi Steve - Well not to my knowledge. One thing to bear in mind is that the BBC seem to have separate facilities for a certain amount of film stock and otherwise, VT. Andrew Martin has pointed this out before. Though a lot of programmes are on viewing copy other stuff is on film and sometimes negative only and will only be accessed in that form by production request fro use in a programme. I believe this may be the case with 'TELEVISION CLUB'; and certainly other series like 'GOING TO WORK'. That doesn't of course apply to any - if known - off air home video recordings.

The NFA have got several 'EXPERIMENT' which I think was Granada and '70 - 73 made on film stock.

No FINDING OUT (ITV) prior to 1971 apparently. The BFI have one from circa 1965 on t/r apparently. It's in their holdings book. Introduced by Penny Whittam - I can remember her now! What state this print or neg is in though, is another matter altogether, as it has likely sat on a shelf for 30+ years. The BFI have a handful of other '60s schools programmes listed as well. No "World Around Us" with Gordon Luck though..!

All known drama Schools programmes are in our new ITV and BBC Drama Guides.
Our Kids Guide lists the other non-drama Schools shows in the main if that helps.

That is of interest Chris - obviously in the interests of diplomacy I won't print all I know here; just a few more for general reference.
