Hi Was just watching the How To channel and seen a promo for a show called cash in the attic. It American{I think} but was wondering if other shows like this are made in the UK and would they have been warned to be on the lookout for old films.

Its a british show. There are loads of shows liek this on TV about 2-3 each day. Looking at peoples attics..going to car bootsales.. and auctions. It would be great if the discovered some long lost film.

I was watching that the other day and they came across a pile of cans marked Hancock, they went for a fiver at auction to a man in a trench coat wearing dark glasses with a very flat nose...............
(yes im kidding)
A Spanish inquisition style game show might be fun, where they burst into random members of the publics houses and quiz them about lost film, and threaten to make them cups of tea and stuff............

If such a show existed, where people trawled through old recording formats you might find in the attic, it could be called 'Cash in the U-Matic'.

Might be interested to know that I have just sent off a concept idea to an independent TV production agency in the UK, they have been affiliated with producing many of the BBC's TV shows for some time now, they gladly take ideas and concepts from the public. I had also pitched an idea about a vintage Top Of The Pops documentary series, to release some of the material we all know about, but have yet to see appear from the archives once again. Would be great if I could get them to show some new performances, not the same ones they keep repeating over and over again. Will see where this goes, but I will attempt to make some headway on this. I had been toying with this idea of a 1960/1970's TOTP documentary series for some time, as there seems to be a lot of unique material that has surfaced, and made its way back to the archives, that we may never get a chance to see again. Maybe get some recollections from past staff, producers, presenters, musicians, would be a great nostalgic look into the past of this series, a big item that I had stated is that this material has to be treated with the respect it deserves, not like what has been done in the past by The BBC, who seemed to have little respect for these past and vintage performances. Hope this goes somewhere, have some excellent ideas for clips to show, hope they buy it.
Cheers, Lance.
