Hello all.
A shameless plug for this Sundays edition of 'The Sky at Night', celebrating the 50th anniversary of the series. It starts at 11.30pm and is a jam packed half hour.
Those interested in archive TV should enjoy our recreation of the original set complete with a Marconi Mk III studio camera although a certain amount of artistic licence has been made in other areas!
Starring Sir Patrick Moore, Jon Culshaw, Brian May and Chris Lintott it is the 653rd episode.
Regards,
Paul

You would have thought that the fiftieth anniversary of the first edition of a TV prog - the only TV series in the World yet to get that far - would have rated a bit more than the standard half hour !

Panorama has been running longer - since 1953 (and they didn't do anything to celebrate, on TV at least!).

Sorry - I should have said the only TV series in the World with the same presenter yet to get that far (unless you count all the Dimblebys as one-and-the-same ;D)

I love this series so I will be glad to see 30 minutes rather than no minutes

I do look forward to seeing this 50th Anniversary show when its included with the magazine in a month or so time! This months edition has an hour long documentary about the shows history which is wonderful, with many archive clips. It also features an extract from the 1958 insert film which is the earliest existing footage and better still, Patrick Moore himself is in that.
God bless Sir Patrick Moore - a true treasured eccentric who has been a major inspiration in Astronomy. To host a show for 50 years is a truly incredible achievement and one I doubt can or ever will be broken.

Just wanted to say I greatly enjoyed this 50th Anniversary show. Not quite what I was expecting but a fun and thought provoking show nevertheless. Good and amusing to see Dr Lintott and Dr May merrily joining in and Culshaws impression of the younger Patrick was quite credible. Many thanks for the work that went into it Paul.

I also much enjoyed the "50th Birthday party".....
Lots of archive clippery coupled with upto date information. Sir Partrick was looking a bit more sprightly too !
Great to see Myleene Klass who has genuine interest in astronomy, not too sure about Lembit "Touch my Bum" Opik and the cheeky girl though....
