The story I heard was that they were strictly told that they were not allowed to make a Christmas VT tape in 1983 so the way they got round it was that they did an Easter one instead.

Apologies for the bump - wasn't there a sort of proto-Xmas tape produced at Lime Grove sometime in the mid-60s? A website I can't immediately remember the address of said that it started with film and only later became VT. Of course, of the film there was only ever 1 copy so those are unlikely to survive. I was never sure if that was a spoof or actually got made as some claim it was on VT while others film, 405 lines 2" quad vt would not have survived to be copied and seen again is my view anyway.
