Just to drop a probable nothingburger in this thread... Ian Levine, formerly of this parish, posted the following about his AI 'reconstructions':
We are doing MARCO POLO - 7 - CRUSADES - 2 - MISSION TO THE UNKNOWN by AI - 1 - MYTH MAKERS - 4 - MASTER PLAN - 9 - MASSACRE - 4 - SAVAGES - 4 - SMUGGLERS - 4 - HIGHLANDERS - 4 - SPACE PIRATES - 5. We are not doing Wheel In Space for a very special reason. That makes 44 that we are definitely doing.
Are there any rumblings that might explain this 'very special reason'?

Possibly that Auntie is animating it.

Ian says that he and his team aren't doing Wheel In Space for "a very special reason". I think that reason is because of the rumor that episodes 4-6 had been found (though the BBC, Philip and Paul have yet to confirm nor deny this), and thus the BBC could be doing an official animation/reconstruction of the remaining missing episodes.

Episode 6 exists. We’re missing 1, 2, 4 and 5. It’s certainly possible that one, or more, MEs have turned up. However, it’s also possible that Auntie are animating either the MEs or the whole thing, a partial animation of Episode 1 exists. I’ve previously suggested here that Wheel is an obvious candidate for animation; Cybermen are a “big monster” and don’t have variable facial expressions making them easy, and cheap! A Cybermen story would probably sell well and would also facilitate box sets and, of course, a BluRay release of Season 5.

There are also telesnaps for Wheel that would help an animation.

I see your need for attention has increased again with the sudden resurgence of frequency of your post which are all nothing burgers although usually have a mundane but at least loosely based question to hide the pointless post. But this one takes the biscuit there are many rumours constantly circling the fandom and Paul,Phillip and the BBC don't confirm or deny them likely to not give them any credence.....its just desperate attention seeking. As for the post relating to Ian he gets very excited about his projects and I do think AI recons are the future but we are a long way off and until he can take constructive criticism (especially when he so frequently gives it out at other people's projects) he will never get them to an acceptable standard. Sad but true. I also wouldn't see the BBC doing there own wheel animation as a reason for him not to as he frequently complains at the official animations accuracy I think he'd do his own regardless. TlDR, stop inflating your own importance spreading nonsense rumours and Ian levine is gunna Ian levine regardless of what other people think

The first post was sharing information fine second ine was just spreading baseless rumour. You literally put "I think" then tried to make it seem more credible with a Paul and the beeb havnt confirmed or denied it. I'm not trying to fire up conflicts I'm just calling out your behaviour, of which there is a pattern. It's quiet here for a while you posy a few thingsn dont get much reaction then they get more out there and frequent until they spark up more fuss and attention then you get slapped by an admin and go quiet for a few months. Hopefully an Admin will come clear it up soon and we can all go back to having a lovely time waiting for some actual real news to discuss, like what project will be after the imminent toymaker animation

The results felt like a pseudo proof of concept despite the Beeb’s missing episode/story animation range being well underway at the time. Regardless, said animation must surely be redundant now anyway if the divisive artistic style of ‘Toymaker portends the future of the range, god help us….

I'm pretty sure it was done by company as a pilot/proof of concept and then they didnt take up the project for the whole story I'd guess for cost reasons.

As multiple people have said many, many times, if the BBC or Paul responded to deny every false missing episode rumour that came up, they'd never get anything else done. Additionally, if we assumed that a lack of response to a rumour meant it was true, we'd have every single episode back by now. More likely than not he knows of someone else doing an animation, or other form of recreation, and it's someone he has confidence will do it in a way that he wants.

It was a tester for producer AnneMarie Walsh before she took on a full animation project of her own.

Watching it again it’s not quite as impressive as I had remembered and in truth far closer quality-wise to what’s already been released but still good. I especially like how they rendered the wheel - aesthetically faithful to the original yet augmented with some subtle embellishment. If the unlikely happens and the eventual animated Wheel’ release looks anything like this I’ll be happy.
