TPTV is showing the 1948 film 'William at the Circus' from 11 May, loosely based on Richmal Crompton's books and a sequel to 'Just William's Luck'. As a bit of a William fan, I think these films are some of the best adaptations ever made. What puzzles me is that they seem to be splitting the film into instalments and are referring to it as a 'lost' movie 'serial'. Does anyone know whether it was ever shown as such? I'm not sure it was ever 'lost' either, except in the sense of 'not been on for a while'! I have an off-air VHS recording of it from Channel 4 in the 90s (which I think may have been the last showing) and it was shown as one complete movie. Can't find any reference to it online as a serial. www.imdb.com/title/tt0123326/Also known as 'William Comes To Town' and 'William Goes To The Circus' in the US. Directed by Val Guest, no less! Be good to see it anyway.
