In a discussion about the various commemorative events when we joined the Common Market, somebody posted:
Does anyone else remember BBC 2's "Up the channel", broadcast on the evening of December 31 1972, billed as "A last half-hearted stand before entry. Patriotically presented by James Cameron, Kenny Everett, William Rushton, John Wells"?
I presume this was a themed edition of Up Sunday, which I remember watching as a young teenager. Do any of these still exist? I've never seen so much as a clip since they were broadcast.

I used to have rather a lot of time for James Cameron, the journalist, back in the day, but don't think I saw this show.

The majority of Up Sunday is missing, including Up the Channel. www.tvbrain.info/tv-archive?showname="up+sunday"&type=lostshow Unfortunately, TVBrain ignores 'up' and quotes so you have to scroll way down the page of 'Sunday' results.

Funnily enough, if you search for 'Common Market', all those results survive:

I'd like to see the episodes of This Week, but probably never will.
Up Sunday used to be a conversation piece on Monday morning in school, but I only remember the girl dancing in the credits to a Santana track (Jingo?) and a sketch lampooning TOGWT called The Old Grey Wasserman Test. Another schoolboy clever dick programme I recall was Quiz of the Week, with a similar Private Eye based line-up, and presumably a similar survival rate.

Some of them are on Youtube
THIS WEEK: Common Market – Case Against (17.06.1971) And companion episode, Case For, which isn't on the above list for some reason.
THIS WEEK: Common Market – Great Debate (28.10.1971)
(5-minute clip)
Harold Wilson interview, 1974. Not on the above list.

Minor point but maybe you could edit the thread title, "this" is a bit unspecific.

This helps otherwise every time I don't remember what I was supposed to remember.

It certainly makes searching the thread easier if one can use the "Where thread title contains..." option. Surprisingly, this thread comes up now if one uses 'Up Sunday' as the title search-term; I thought it'd refuse to recognise words of two letters...

Surprisingly, there's an IMDB page: www.imdb.com/title/tt0390788/?ref_=fn_al_tt_1The sole comment is well worth a read. p.s. Shouldn't the title of this thread be Anyone remember 'Up Sunday!'? (Sorry, Brian, couldn't resist. In fact, I'm pretty sure that too much punctuation in the title actually screws up the search-function).
