That’s great news that such significant material is still out there. Really excited for what else might turn up.

It's morning time here in the UK so this news is a great start to the day!

The recovery of Dad's Army: The Battle for Godfrey's Cottage is interesting as the existing copy has part of the final scene missing. Also Steptoe: My Old Man's A Tory as currently only a poor-quality optical transfer exists (and has been shown lately on That's TV).

Great to hear, I wonder what else is currently held by other university archives. Some material had turned up in American universities like the 1965 production of Nineteen Eighty Four.

Also Steptoe: My Old Man's A Tory as currently only a poor-quality optical transfer exists (and has been shown lately on That's TV). Actually, I think you're incorrect on both counts. We think that the current version of The Battle of Godfrey's Cottage in the BBC Archive is unedited and that the cut that is there at the end was there on broadcast. Obviously when the new print is scanned, it can be compared with the earlier print. Regarding 'My Old Man's a Tory', a 16mm film recording of that episode was returned to the BBC in 2018 by Philip Morris of TIEA. It's not a perfect print. This new print is an alternative to that. Paul - is it possible to say where these prints are from? Are they from overseas, for instance? Or is it too early to say at this stage?
