Ah, thank you. Presumably the reason why the BBC archive have B&W TOTP's after that date is because they are low-band recordings/recoveries...

Ah, thank you. Presumably the reason why the BBC archive have B&W TOTP's after that date is because they are low-band recordings/recoveries... Yes the three surviving editions from early 1970 are actually high-quality B/W film recordings (for export/band wanting a copy etc) but obviously cannot be quite as good as the original in the analogue world. They were found to have colour info (chroma dots) embedded in the print and before the Savile controversy they were lined up for the then-discovered 'colour recovery' process.
