Hi
Thanks for adding me to the group. I hope it's OK to post this. Please delete if not. I am a TV producer and I am looking to find a particular copy of 'The Cook Report' as part of my research for a documentary I'm developing.
It’s the famous ‘Laundryman’ sting on John ‘Goldfinger’ Palmer at the Ritz which was first broadcast on ITV on 16th June 1994 (with updates in 30th June 1994 and 29th Dec 1994)
I have had no luck finding a copy of it in the archives, Youtube and elsewhere. I wondered if anyone here might have come across a copy?
Thanks

If the ITV Archive don't have it, I do wonder why they have every shot in the programme listed - on this link, if you have permission to go in www.itvarchive.com/Production/913690 - have you checked with them? I do know alot of Carlton stuff went missing... But synopsis here: Synopsis Series 9, Ep. 5, tx 16 Jun 1994 - Exposes John Palmer as a money launderer. Despite being acquitted of involvement in the Brinks-Mat bullion robbery it suggests that money made laundering stolen gold was invested in timeshare complexes in Tenerife. To prove his willingness to launder money a sting is set up with the help of General Khun Sa, leader of the Shan Province, Burma. The economy of this province is based on the sale of opium and is therefore flooded with money that has illegal origins and requires 'cleaning'. A former US undercover agent, George 'Buddy' Burns, poses as Kuhn Sa's British representative and meets with Palmer's Spanish lawyer, Raymond Solarno. He subsequently meets Palmer who states he can launder sixty two million dollars and that he wants to meet the Burmese. Two of Kuhn Sa's representatives arrive and details are discussed. The meetings are recorded on hidden camera. Interviewees: Commissioner William Taylor, City of London Police; Detective Sergeant Tony Curtis, Brinks-Mat Squad; Derrick Bettridge, former manager of Palmer's timeshare complex, Island Village; Brian Nolan, beaten up after complaining about Island Village; Dave Roberts, financial consultant; Colonel Sorn Pon, Khun Sa aide. ITV Archive should have have it. When the Central/Carlton archive moved up to Leeds the programme was mastered on D2 along with Beta SP copies. Also, all programme rushes were sent to Leeds.

As an aside I once worked on a farm for a day for a pittance of pay. I found out I was the only one there who was legally in the country. The place featured in a later episode of the Cook Report as exploiting illegal immigrants.
