It seems that there are a number of series and shows that frustratingly exist in the archives, but are prevented from any kind of release due to either missing paperwork, legal issues or physically not being digitally transferred. One of my missions to get some answers on is The Hippodrome Show (1966) which at one time there were colour and black and white tape editions and it seems both versions still exist ! The black & white copies I have on good authority reside at the BFI undigitised, with the rights holders being Archbold, whilst the colour tapes are under the management of Reeling in the Years in the states. Then there is the ridiculous situation with the TVS library, the Rediffusion and Channel 4 archive shambles. I'm sure there are many more stuck in limbo.....

Archbuild material is now actually dealt with by BFI direct.
I've been working in archive professionally for over 35 years and I've always said the motto for such work is "just one more thing"...

Interesting you mention that Jeff as some of the circus/magic acts on the Hippodrome show were released on DVD a few years ago in glorious colour. There was no ref IIRC where they came from but it was Hippodrome... (It may have originated from the US as public domain fodder) Indeed a DVD clip was shown on a local news ch. to show a young elephant on the show had suffered cruelty in old age. Obviously music clips are another can of rights worms but 'reeling in the years' displayed for a while an Everly Bros and Gerry and the Pacemakers clip from the show. The show has possibly the only colour recording of Dusty Springfield's famous "you don't have to say you love me"

Recently I was reading about The Telegoons being stuck in limbo thanks to Grosvenor Films long being defunct & no-one knowing who owns the rights.
I never thought the Adam West Batman series would be released due to various issues.
