Hi Folks, I am reading a superb coffee table sized book just now entitled (The Haight) Love, Rock, and Revolution (the Photography of Jim Marshall)
296 pages published by (Insight Editions) ISBN 978-1-60887-363-0 www.insighteditions.comI am a devotee of the so called Hippie Underground scene so it's certainly my cup of tea (or something else !) only kidding ! anyway, I would thoroughly recommend this book if any of you fellow forum members like the the so called (Hippie era) It's far far more than just photographs of The Haight Ashbury by the way ... it tells the complete and comprehensive story of the street (Haight Ashbury) also creative, cultural and revolutionary aspects of the day. It is written by best-selling San Francisco music journalist Joel Selvin. My wife and I went to San Francisco and the Haight Ashbury in 1998 only 31 yrs too late ! So there we go just thought I'd recommend this superb book. I have quite a few other books on the Hippie Phenomenon; if anybody out there is a fan of this period of history then please get in touch Cheers William

Thanks for the heads up, William - it's one I will certainly check out.
I recently bought (even though it came out in 2017) "The Great British Woodstock : The Incredible Story Of The Weeley Festival 1971" by Ray Clark. It's a fantastic account of this event, packed with pictures - mostly of the attendees - and it's a very good snapshot of a lost time. It's published by The History Press, ISBN 978-0-7509-6989-5 I

Thanks Kev I'll check out the book you recommend, I have heard of The Weeley festival and seem to remember an article on it in one of my music papers. Whether I still have the NME or Disc and Music Echo concerned I am not sure as I have been selling a few on eBay for a while.

Jim Marshall was the best of his day and seemed to be in the right place at the right time. Dylan in 62, The Beatles in New York 64, various folk and jazz festivals thouhgout the late fiftes to mid sixties. If you can catch the Sky Documentary about him then you won't be disappointed. There's also a six part rock photography series on Sky too.
