Hi all,
This coming Monday Bank Holiday (August 30th) there is an Agatha Christie themed evening evening on BBC4. When I saw the trailer for it, the original 1985 SD copy was being used for clips for the Joan Hickson Miss Marple episode. I suggested to the powers that be that the restored HD version that was made by BBC Worldwide for the US Bluray release might be used instead. Today I was told that (touch wood) the HD version will be screened on Monday night.
Hopefully this might open the door for more archive repeats sourced from the original masters (long shot I know).

Excellent. Its a total mystery to me why we couldnt have the Blu Ray masters in this country instead of churning out the same old, smeary versions.

I agree. The US BluRays of the Miss Marple episodes are excellent and for the life of me I can’t understand why the TV companies can’t be bothered to show the best available version..

What happens about the audio in a situation like this? I assume the US bluray runs at 24fps? Was the audio pitch shifted to create that, as the 1980s original would run at 25fps?
