from the Lennon80 channel, a copy of this Parkinson interview which is far superior to the copy that is held in the BBC archive. This copy is from the master 16mm film that the Lennon's made while doing the interview by pointing their camera at a studio monitor. Happy 80th Birthday John.

Amazing quality. But surely it's far too good for a simple film camera/monitor copy? Good results are only achievable using this method under proper film recording conditions, aren't they? Wouldn't there be all sorts of scanning problems?

Interesting to see Parkinson appeared to do a Johnny Carson-style satirical monologue at the start of his shows in the early days.

Interesting to see Parkinson appeared to do a Johnny Carson-style satirical monologue at the start of his shows in the early days. I heard the BBC wanted to turn his show into a Tonight Show like programme, but it didn't quite work out like that. There was a period in the early 1980s when Parky had a Wednesday night edition that he normally interviewed politicians and other people in the news rather than people in show business.
