Just looking with anticipation at the contents of the just announced Do Not Adjust Your Set DVD package (released alongside the 1948 show one, already mentioned in the dedicated thread) as listed here: shop.bfi.org.uk/pre-order-do-not-adjust-your-set-3-disc-dvd-set.html#.XNhtVBQzbIV, and I see alongside a copious amount of exciting extras, is listed 'Includes all 14 fully surviving episodes, from both the Rediffusion and Thames series, five of which have never been previously released on DVD' .. now, the old DVD from 2005 contained 9 episodes, all from series 1. It omitted 2 other episodes known to survive at the time, which were the 1968 Xmas special 'Do Not Adjust Your Stocking' and the sole known surviving series 2 show, episode 4 where the Bonzos play 'Beautiful Zelda'. Then in 2015 another series 1 episode (no.4 in that series) was found. So that brings the total to 12. So does this mean 2 more have been discovered recently? If so, does anyone know which shows they are? According to this sites guide, currently still missing are the 1967 Boxing Day special, episodes 3, 7 and 8 from series 1, the 1968 summer special, and shows 1-3 and 5-13 of series 2.

I know they have been trawling through the estate of the late David Frost so maybe they were found there?

Indded, looks like it's The 1967 Boxing day pilot and the one off summer special (broadcast in July 1968 but recorded 4 months earlier).
Bonzos play 'Jollity farm' and a 'boxing Day song' on the 1967 show and 'I'm the Urban Spaceman' on the 1968 one!

It's been suspected for some time, based on the films listed in the BFI catalogue (several film copies of 1 episode, all of a different length, and confused airdates).

Well, it's out now, and it's an excellent set. One question though. In the booklet's episode guide there's no air date noted for the 1967 Pilot/Boxing Day Special, so does that mean that Rediffusion London never showed it? Terry Jones is quoted, he was in Reigate on the 26.12.67. and he saw the mix-up in which Episode 1 of the series proper was shown instead of the Boxing Day Special. Reigate was in Rediffusion London's transmission area, wasn't it? This contradicts Wikipedia which states that the mix-up was in the ITV regions, and Rediffusion London showed the correct Boxing Day programme. How were programmes physically distributed for the ITV regions then?

My TV times for that period (London) has DNAYS at 6 35 It just says "New Series" My Anglia version of the same TV Tomes has Crossroads at the same time.

Looks like the 1967 Boxing Day Special wasn't shown anywhere, but I'm happy to be contradicted. Has anyone got the Southern Television listing for 26.12.67?

I was always told that in the London area they were warned and did NOT make the same mistake i.e. to switch it for the first. So Boxing day (or call it a pilot or episode 0) had the same air date as regular episode 1 then.

More info. The DNAYS Boxing Day Special was scheduled for 4.55pm in the Midlands region. So they'd either have their own film copy to run, or more likely, the video tape was run in London at 4.55 and beamed to Birmingham or wherever via microwave. Then they'd run the tape again for London transmission at 6.35pm. But at least one of these runs was the wrong tape.

Now, the BFI DVD set has a Lost Listens section with DNAYS off-air audio, and the first recording is "Rediffusion Merry Christmas Mix-Up" with the incorrect Episode 1, and the mid-sketch end fade with announcement. The title implies it was recorded from the 6.35pm Rediffusion London transmission, and there's a Rediffusion ID at the start, but that proves nothing because it was a Rediffusion production and the programme would have had this ID even in another region. Unfortunately there's nothing of the following programme included, which could have told us in which region the tape was recorded. However the booklet says it was The Benny Hill Show, which again implies Rediffusion London.

Just a thought ...but I believe DNAYS had a Christmas special in 68..which did not have a serial around it...could this have been the one they did not show the previous year?

No is the short answer. The 1968 Christmas special was "Do Not Adjust Your Stocking", a brand new 40 minute item recorded for Thames Television. The 1967 Rediffusion Christmas special was only 23 minutes long, shorter than a regular 25 minute episode. Both of these specials are on the DVD set.
