I should have posted this in here! Great post on the site "X" formally known as Twitter, and I have the full permission of the original poster to share these images! Maura Currie is a BBC Scotland continuity announcer and she was given these pictures by the designer a retired BBC engineer by the name of Chris Wyatt. They show how the BBC1 Scotland seasonal ident for 1982/83 was realised: Maura told me these images arrived just after BBC Scotland took delivery of the 2023 Christmas idents.

Slightly OT by a few months but does anyone know if the "Autumn on ITV" promo with the memorable "segmented leaves" and music survive. 1976 I think but could be a year out either way? Just in case anyone missed my question?

Here's some brilliant reconstructions of BBC1 Scotland Christmas/ Hogmany idents by Mike Pitt. What other idents would you like to see reconstructed?

Thanks Geoff, the TV Ark one is from the correct year & has the leaves. The main promo started in late summer from memory and had lively music running along with the leaves segmenting and going off screen. Clips of the new program offerings were then shown, with the leaves recombining and resegmenting between clips.

Here the earliest surviving closedown featuring a Christmas ident, from the early hours of Christmas Eve in 1974, despite the video erronously claiming it's from the 23rd December.
