Have restarted this thread as the original had disappeared off the bottom of the Tapatalk App I'm using & I can't be bothered to go digging on the web.
As those of you who read the original thread will know, I've not tended to enjoy the drama output from either the Beeb or ITV for some years now, too much gurning & shouting for my taste, etc, etc.
Imagine my surprise & delight with the quality of three recent series, Bodyguard, Killing Eve & Informer. I enjoyed Bodyguard despite some reservations about the leads portrayal of PTSD, but I really rated Killing Eve, with its clever story and quirky semi comic Polanski like direction and Informer which had it all, suspense, menace, good use of time shifting, and a finish that genuinely kept you guessing to the end and even gave a nod to excellent Italian drama Gomorra in showing very short clips of preview material in the end credits with music rather than the usual give it all away 2 mins of highlights. Excellent stuff & well worth a look.
Oh & I also enjoyed The Frankenstein Chronicles on ITV. An entertaining blend of fact and fantasy set in a run down London in the early C19th.

I found a remarkably effective sitcom a couple weeks ago called 'Norsemen', which is a an often deadpan account of the daily lives of a colony of Vikings. It has finished season 2 now. There is an amazing gag about one of the character's tattoos and what they commemorate. Worth a watch.
Season 2 of Snowfall was good, but it has mixed reviews.

I've really enjoyed season 3 of Fear the Walking Dead & thought it had a similar vibe to the early seasons of The Walking Dead. Unfortunately it seems I was in the minority. Let's hope they make another series. I'm finding the latest season of The Walking Dead a little flat so far, I think the direction is more on track, less "odd" groups, etc. Even "garbage girl" has mysteriously started talking normally which is an improvement for me!

Personally I am enjoying the current season of TWD. I think, and without any actual foreknowledge so not spoilering, that they are setting the season up to appear to be going in one direction when it is going to end up going somewhere else. This is my hunch. I hear you on the absence of Yoda speak. Perhaps she took a second rock to the head which reset that glitch. Who knows.
FTWD has been pretty cool so far. I hear the show really has some very vocal critics but I guess you can't keep everyone happy! I finished the most recent season a few weeks ago and whilst it has undeniably changed direction quite substantially, I have been enjoying each episode.
On a completely different note, has anyone else been watching 'the outpost'? Now that is undeniably one of the worst things I have sat still for in a while. Strangely I managed to make it to the end of the season. I was pretty certain there was zero chance of it getting a second season, but against all odds, poor viewing figures and really scathing reviews, it has been renewed. I have no idea how that happened at all. I suppose they at least had the sense to pick an attractive female lead in Jessica Green. It might appeal to those singular masochists who miss Xena and Hercules...............

It was with some sense of trepidation that I noticed an 'edgy reboot' was planned for 'Sabrina the teenage witch' a while back. I didn't give it much thought until the series aired. I thought I would give it a try, albeit with a predisposition that it would be 2/10 at best. It actually wasn't that bad, more like a 6/10. I cringed a couple of times at a few of the cheesier moments, but surprisingly it was actually entertaining for the most part. I can't claim this is going to make anyone here reassess their lives or anything, but if you want something fairly harmless and entertaining, then there are worse things being broadcast. I offer the disclaimer here that I have only watched the first two episodes thus far.

Little Drummer Girl. Le Caree source material and good acting. The stand out is the accurate 70s set design and props. Not OTT like some 70s era work.

I thoroughly enjoyed the New Year's Eve concert by Madness last night. Odd seeing them without Chas Smash, but Suggs coped admirably with singing lead on everything (including 'Wings Of A Dove' and 'One Step Beyond', songs sung by Chas on record), and Lee Thompson on sax was as brilliant as ever.

Yes it was good fun to watch, just like their Glastonbury set in 2016. I've been trying to find details of Madness's planned BBC series in the 1980s.
