I don't think the timing works right, but there is no reason not to ask.
I just double checked the history of the recoveries of "Counterplot" and "Escape Switch." They were found in a Mormon Church. It looks like the Mormons moved into Church and found the film there.
According to a long time friend of my Dad (head of the local Stake), everything that might have been saved from there would have been sent to the Church's HQ in Salt Lake City, Utah or one of the other main branches. Anything that was not clearly labelled might have been sent to one of these places for safe keeping in case there were a claim later. My wife's friend said that if there had been enough junk in the new Church, they might have had them transported.
The LDS are very meticulous about their records, so it might be possible to back track what was there for other canisters. Does anyone know how much checking has been done in this direction?

I served a service mission in the media department at the LDS church headquarters, and there are several Dr Who fans there, if there was lost episodes there they would have been returned long ago. I have personally been in the vaults where films are kept and did not see any dr who or other British television shows, but if you want to know how to train temple square gardeners that is the place to look.

We might have a mutual friend! Will send a PM.

Remember that not everyone knows there are MEs.

I don’t think there was a need to send anything on to Salt Lake directly but the regional headquarters is currently Solihull. I’m not sure if Solihull was the headquarters forty years ago but anyway. I have some friends who could check but as others said, I’m sure the church would have managed to return other items a long time ago.
