Some film collectors do seem to have an awful lot of money to burn. I would've expected it to be a missing episode at that price!

I'm quite happy with my RT restored DVD of the complete serial, thank you very much...

Any idea as to whether is was an original copy made by the BBC or just a reproduction by a collector?

Early BBC TV episode featuring the first Dr WHO - William Hartnell

This episode first aired in February 1964

To say this is a rare find is an understatement

This print appears to be a BBC original with all leader information, countdown, opening and closing credits etc

The episode is complete and is in very good condition with very good picture and sound quality, there are only a few very minor lines and marks - as far as 16mm films go, this is near excellent.

Screen shots were very quickly taken to give an idea of content

The whole film played through my projector without any issues

No vinegar odour.

I stand corrected.

Amazing. I didn't think there was another print of it was floating around. Raises a few questions about its history/source. Would love to hear what some of the DW inner circle had to say about it.

Wonderful print and got a good price too. Clearly not a dupe. Not that a dupe is a bad thing - any Doctor Who on 16mm is extremely valuable! While sitting down with the DVD is fantastic, nothing beats the experience of watching a thrilling episode on 16mm film. If you ever get a chance I highly recommend it.

Based on Wiped!, I assume "16" to mean 16mm and "20685" to be the specific programme number ("Daleks 7"). What exactly does "TU" mean?

Absolutely not! But there are folks around who might be able to establish whether it’s an 80s dupe or from the 60s.
