Watching "Hits, Hype and Hustle: An Insider's Guide To The Music Business" on BBC4 last Friday, I was intrigued about archive footage of a young female singer being groomed (no, not in that way! - at least I don't think so) by various people including Steve Rowland (Family Dogg, etc). See here Anyone know who she was (Judith someone?) and whether anything became of her?

I've not watched the BBC4 programme yet, but I'm sure the clip must have been from a 1967 Man Alive episode "Can She Sing - Does It Matter?" genome.ch.bbc.co.uk/21036681830f45168b230a96099b22bdThe singer was Judith Powell and the song 'Greener Days' was written by David Gates (pre-Bread) and previously recorded by the US group The Gants www.45cat.com/record/rca1569The complete Man Alive episode was on YouTube at one time, but appears to have been taken down www.youtube.com/watch?v=Dy9LFPfC4ZYWhen I watched the episode I was unconvinced that the programme makers were not guiltier of exploiting her than the hapless would be starmakers. She never made a second record...

Apparently the record nearly made the Top 50, and was plugged on a couple of the pirates.
