6 episodes ~ 1969.
Most notably for me it featured The Kinks lip synching 'Shangri-la'. Any full lists of the line ups for all 6 episodes? Any stuff ever found of this. Any Bob Pratt shenanigans? Cheers.

Thomas! I've been grooving to Silverlake over the holiday, a grand piece of work... Anyways, from my website www.tvpopdiaries.co.uk/index.html Tuesday 15th April 1969 BBC2 Peter Sarstedt 10:30 - 11:00 pm A one-off, probably to see how he'd present himself in a series, directed by Stanley Dorfman. Described by Radio Times as 'A fantasy look at the world of a songwriter.' An article about his series in October described this show as a 'single one man show.' so no guests. Wednesday 1st October 1969 BBC2 Peter Sarstedt: On Age 10:00 - 10:30 pm Dusty Springfield - Am I The Same Girl The Kinks - Shangri-la From the Daily Mirror... Producer Stanley Dorfman says: "Half the appeal of Peter's work is the words of the songs he writes. They're very intelligent and modern." Wednesday 8th October 1969 BBC2 Peter Sarstedt: On Cool Fat Matress Francois Hardy Wednesday 15th October 1969 BBC2 Peter Sarstedt: On Woman 10:25 - 10:55 pm Joe Cocker and the Greaseband Rosetta Hightower BBC2 Peter Sarstedt: On Losers 10:20 - 10:50 pm Fleetwood Mac Cleo Laine Wednesday 29th October 1969 BBC2 Peter Sarstedt: On Happiness Trash Esther Ofarim Wednesday 5th November 1969 BBC2 Peter Sarstedt: On Power Blue Mink Madeline Bell www.youtube.com/watch?v=HqC-677R-xU This is 'Where Do You Go To' the Ivor Novello Awards Show, while TOTP and Simon Dee clips of the same song also exist.

The show on the 15th April 1969 was "live" according to the NME
The NME also had an interview with Peter in the 4th October 1969 issue and this is what he had to say when asked if he had any idea why he was honoured with his own series by the BBC?...
"Not really, nobody has explained why to me. All I can say is there must be an awful shortage of artists about!...No seriously, I can only think that the BBC imagine I am right for them. Not perhaps at this instant, because I still want to do a few things they could'nt let me do. But given enough time and space...I was talking to one of the heads the other day and he told me that he thought it would be wrong to put me on BBC1 on a big spectacular. it would be too tight and I'd probably fizzle out. Stanley Dorfmann, the producer, and I sat down and thought up ideas, and the good ones we've kept in. it is an experiment, and I can only wait and see how well it comes off."

Cheers. Not one second exists sadly. The Kinks doing Shangri-La would be great to see. The Jon Savage book on the Kinks has want looks like a still from either the show or more likely the rehearsal. It features John Dalton in a chunky sweater and a very serious looking Ray.

It's captioned 'Summer 1969' but that could just be a best guess. I'm not entirely convinced it's from as late as Oct 1969 - I always thought Ray had lost the fringe by then but I could be wrong. (it's also more that possible that their bit was filmed in advance).

Wonder if the uploader holds the entire 1st October 1969 episode of Peter Sarstedt?

One is on a 45 single (Lola?) and features Ray in a T shirt, so I'm basing my guess on that.

I agree it's likely that this image is from the Sarstedt show. Is this the 5 4 3 2 1 image you were referring to?

Yep that's the one! Great isn't it.
The only ever clip I've seen from 4 3 2 1 Hot n Sweet is the Doors clip Hello I Love You. My rudimentary German allowed me todiscover that the shows are wiped bar isolated clips and the Doors one is the only one I know of.
Hope to have a chat with you at the 2018 pop do in June!

Wow, I've never seen that before. Good quality, also an interesting contrast between the band and the setting. I guess it likely survived as it was an OB film clip and was possibly re purposed as a promo video for other outlets? I didn't know a June 2018 pop event had been announced yet - is it a Kal event? Do you have a link to details?

It is possible that tele-recordings of the Peter Sarstedt show were exhibited abroad, I've found from a source that the show was transmitted in Jordan during the early Seventies, and that country didn't begin colour transmissions until 1974 so it is possible there could be lead out there. Indeed prints of other shows were sent abroad, even the likes of The Basil Brush Show, and thanks to the efforts of archivists an episode from the 1st series has been recovered. By checking the records of where copies of this show were exhibited to, may provide us with some leads.

It is most likely a rehearsal for the unaired TotPs Plastic Man VT and would have been before any of the Arthur tracks were recorded, never mind any promo for the album or any of the singles drawn from it.
