Sol Byron And The Senate were the regular house band.

A weekly pop programme for Scottish viewers featuring regulars Lulu and The Luvvers, The Senate with Sol Byron and two dance troupes, The Stramashers and The Lindella Movers. Produced by David Bell. The one English act to appear regularly was Peter London. Hosted by Christian (Chris McClure).

Anybody any more information? I'm sure I've came across this show before and maybe posted something on the forum? but I can't find any trace? anybody know if I did? (sorry this is a senior moment)

The Gaylords turned into Marmalade. Pretty sure the show was recorded in Glasgow.

Wow some great acts.Such a shame that these programmes are lost preventing those of us of a certain age from being able to watch again & appreciate.

Watched the BBC4 documentary on Marc Bolan on Friday..in my view not a seminal artist of his era but at least much of his output is preserved for his fans to enjoy.

According to The Stage magazine dated 27th January 1966 Doris Troy was to be on the show but when I do not know ? Doris Troy later went on to have an LP released on the Beatles Apple label. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Doris_Troy_(album)

She did indeed, though as a Hollies fanatic I'm most familiar with Doris Troy via her original version of 'Just One Look'.

This short-lived Scottish pop music show was produced in Glasgow and aired on BBC1 on Mondays at 6.30 pm across most of the UK between 4 October 1965 and 11 February 1966.

An energetic, fast-moving show with lots of screaming from the audience, it was billed as “The big noise from Glasgow”. The rough English translation of “Stramash” is “a riot”, and the producers promised “a riot of fun”.

Lulu & The Luvvers were the headline act, but The Three Bells and Peter Cooke followed Lulu north from Gadzooks!, with the latter changing his name to Peter London.

Other regulars were singer Chris McClure and a seven-man house band known as Sol Byron And The Senate.

Also featured were the Stramashers (a six-girl dance group) and the Lindella Movers (six local couples brought in as additional dancers).

Artists who appeared on the show included Marmalade, The Beatstalkers, Billy J. Kramer and the Dakotas, Elkie Brooks, The Fortunes, Anita Harris, Herman’s Hermits, Tom Jones, Jonathan King, The Ivy League, Peter and Gordon, Barry Ryan, Paul Simon, Jimmy Witherspoon, Fontella Bass, Adam Faith, Wayne Fontana, The Hollies, Pinkerton’s Assorted Colours and Sandie Shaw.
