I remember that at some point in 1976 (or possibly even late 1975) Stuart Henry, the radio DJ, appeared in a TV prison drama as a convict who stabs a fellow inmate, but a brief search on the 'net has failed to come up with even the merest mention of this. Does anyone else recall it? It happened, for sure, but I don't remember the name of the series. So it's over to you lot then.

Thanks Peter - quite a bit earlier in the decade than I'd thought, but that's the one for sure. Top detective work!

So 1975/6 would have been a repeat?

the series is out in full on DVD - Stuart had to have his long hair cropped short for the role, and he was really good as a particularly nasty vicious convict
nothing like the dear old friendly and chatty DJ I so well remember listening to often - I recall Stuart wondering and asking us why 'The Joker' by Steve Miller Band wasn't a hit ?? (it later made no.1 on re-issue years later proving Stuart was right !)

"He spent six years as an actor after training at Glasgow College of Dramatic Art" www.independent.co.uk/news/people/obituary-stuart-henry-1584058.html so he was alright with Equity! This: "He used to do a spot called 'She's Leaving Home', which was all about missing youngsters. He showed a concern for social action broadcasting a long time before Radio 1 was ever involved with it. He'd say, 'I'm no asking you to go back, my friend, what I want you to do is let your parents know you're all right . . ." He'd get people to ring in and make contact. (He used the old Beatles song as a theme tune.) He also campaigned about nuclear testing and had an environment spot on his Saturday morning show, before it was a popular issue." sounds a little bit Shoestring...

Quite a cast list in that episode.
