We have had special editions of quite a few totally complete existing stories. Ifthey were commercially viable I'd like to hope if the real episode were found then special editions would become available. That is if DVDs are in vogue. Look at the history of Underwater Menace

I'm fairly sure that they'd put out a special edition DVD as recently discovered episodes usually sell really well. After all the two best selling DVDs are The Web Of Fear and Enemy Of The World.

I think the Mind of Evil colourisation was held up for a few months, when they thought another copy of Episode 1 had turned up, hoping it had chroma dots.
Im sure any animation process that is underway would be halted, unless it was so near to completion, it would be worth finishing as an extra, if that episode turned up.

Perhaps that was Planet of the Daleks 3 ? The recolourised version had been completed but then the colour recovery (chroma dots) version became available - the two were combined.

I wondered this question myself. Related to this, what if they find a single episode that has been animated, but it doesn't complete the story?
At the end of the day I suppose that they'll do whatever they think will make them some money.

They would make a special edition and no doubt we would all compare the animation to the recovered episode to see how close the animators got it
