Now according to Lost Shows all 14 episodes are missing:
Missing or incomplete episodes for programme SUSPENSE.
--.--.-- A Stop on the Way (missing)
28.02.60 The Tip-Off (missing)
06.03.60 Decision at Nine (missing)
13.03.60 The Devil Makes Three (missing)
20.03.60 A Slight Case of Felony (missing)
27.03.60 Flight 404 (missing)
03.04.60 Love Story (missing)
10.04.60 Point of Honour (missing)
24.04.60 Trump Card (missing)
01.05.60 Collision! (missing)
08.05.60 Payment in Full (missing)
15.05.60 Eight Feet to Midnight (missing)
22.05.60 Time Factor (missing)
29.05.60 Scheme to Defraud (missing)
Now ITV have been registering large numbers of programmes with the Entertainment Identifier Registry Association (EIDR) and even have a representative on the board of the organization. Inexplicably in the case of Suspense, 4 of the episodes have been registered by ITV (registration of missing audiovisual material is allowed, and is even done in some cases by non-rights holders).
10.5240/6631-8B9E-4650-5CA5-9208-Y Decision at Nine
10.5240/6951-70D8-D912-96AF-A98F-3 Eight Feet to Midnight
10.5240/CBB4-045F-FE23-588C-7172-I The Devil Makes Three
10.5240/7914-9746-6B94-7752-E3A8-7 The Tip-Off
Now registering all or no episodes would be understandable but the only reason I can think of for registering just 4, is that those are the episodes that ITV actually now have.
Even if episodes actually are still missing, the registration data provides useful information. In the case of 'The Devil Makes Three' the entry makes it clear that the ATV programme was actually a shortened, edited version of the MGM movie of the same title from 1952.
Equally a comparison of the entry for ATV's 'Eight Feet to Midnight' with a listing for the Studio One episode 'Eight Feet to Midnight' that was broadcast in the US on 29 April 1957 shows that the director and cast are identical, which suggests the episode had been rebadged as an episode of Suspense, particularly as the subject matter, concerning the IRA in Belfast, would be relevant to a British audience.
