Chris Perry 23 mins · Birmingham
DISCOVERY 66: Here’s Harry – The Musician tx: 22.11.1963
Written by Vince Powell and Frank Roscoe, produced and directed by John Ammonds for BBC North. With Harry Worth, Max Jaffa, Geoffrey Hibbert, Jack Woolgar, BBC Northern Concert Orchestra
Comedy and music combined in the only edition of series 6 that now survives. 16mm telerecording acquired from private collection. Shown on the night it was announced that President Kennedy had been killed. One of the few programmes actually shown and not re-scheduled.
As always, my thanks to Steve Birt for his support.
The next few days will be comedy and documentaries, then back to drama at the end of the weekend.

Does this one start with the classic shop window scene or is it too early a series?

An historic find-in more ways than one.
One of those peculiar series where the title of every episode-well,with a few exceptions-starts with 'The'.

Can someone upload a list of Harry Worth eps. existing v.v. missing please. There were loads of old Harry Worth recordings from VHS tapes available from a certain 'boxed' Brit. TV site some years' ago which is now well closed down. I expect the source tapes got dumped so now no-one can see them.

Some audio-only survives as well for other episodes of Harry Worth, rescued by Tristan Brittain-Dissont, the Archivist of the Tony Hancock Appreciation Society (www.tonyhancock.org.uk).
