If I’m reading this correctly then, the argument is that E6 of Power should have been retained as there was some sort of unofficial policy to retain 35mm film copies, there is no record of it being junked, so it was probably removed & taken by person or persons unknown?

The 35mm prints would have been more likely to survive as they were the transmission masters and, unlike videotape, they couldn't be wiped and reused. Being kept in the Film Library, there was more chance to them being kept. That wasn't guaranteed however and episodes could potentially be junked along with each production's film inserts if it wasn't deemed worthwhile keeping them, so both the 35mm masters for Power #6 and The Wheel in Space #5 were disposed of. That said, it isn't correct to say that there's no record of Power #6 being junked. The film holding record card is duly marked "Junked" against all the episode's 35mm film assets - both the original film inserts and the episode itself. Authorisation to junk the material was signed off in October 1968.

Was that during the period when there was, effectively, a moratorium on selling Dalek stories as Terry Nation was trying to sell ‘em in the US?

I was thinking the embargo on Dalek story sales might be a factor, but the other 35mm Dalek episodes survived.

I assume that Enterprises had a 16mm dupe negative of Power 6, and the 35mm master wouldn't have been needed for sales.

Is there any evidence that the episode was used?
It would be great if it did show up in a collection but who knows?

It's possible both departments binned their copies thinking the other would keep their print. Not really. Neither would have any reason to care what the other held. Enterprises would have obtained their copies in the full knowledge that broadcast masters were frequently disposed of within a comparatively short period of time.

I'm curious if you have any theories about this print? Theories with regards to what? The Film Library junked it.

I have already made contact with the school, if anything happens I shall let you all know. Please no one else try to contact them, we do not want to swamp them. So, have you got any answer? I don't believe the school would have any relevant information, but I still wonder if and how they replied?
