From Chris Perry:-
""Motormouth - I have seen the email today that confirms that all of Motormouth was wiped by Disney......... in 2010. Scandalous in this day and age. I have seen people posting below that they hold editions or clips. If so, will they please consider returning them to us so we can make some archive masters. Anyone willing can email me at cp@kaleidoscopepublishing.co.uk or bring the tapes in November. Thanks Chris Perry""

Nice early clip of the Manic Street Preachers with "Love's Sweet Exile" from Motormouth, introduced by Gaby Roslin :

You need to trawl YouTube and post a message to each uploader of MM for footage, and also add a comment to each video page stating what Disney has done. Yeah - and I bet Disney claims copyright for all retrieved footage. Maybe a flood of emails to the current CEO protesting their actions might make them realise what morons they employ. And releasing the news in a Press Release should be picked up by the international media.

Meanwhile Disney leaves no stone unturned in order to protect Mickie Mouse from the horrors of public domain by extending copyright law until all eternity...

So Disney were the rights owners of this programme? What would have possessed them to wipe it in its entirety? I am not up to speed about how programmes are archived these days but I was under the impression that they could be stored digitally thereby negating the need for bulky video tape libraries? I have no memories of this programme as I was well past children's TV by then ,but my kids now in their early 30s remember it. I have often bemoaned to them that so much TV of my childhood years is gone forever whereas I would tell them that most of what they watch will always be available somewhere in archives, online etc. So it's good to know that not everything will have been lost ,despite Disney's cultural vandalism.

I guess someone worked out the storage costs against the amount of potential revenue & decided it wasn't worth keeping any more or even transferring to a digital format. Maybe they consulted Alan Lee?

Lets STOP right here before the rabbit is chased down the wrong hole. Challenge is currently by Sky, before that it was Virgin and before that the original owners where Flextech. Challenge come about from the Family channel ( people who brought TVS in 1993) in 1996 Flextech brought out the channel from Family and also signed a number of deals to broadcast certain shows. Best of were shown on Family: www.youtube.com/watch?v=pzOruMg6N_M&list=PLohd5UVV10lwzQyDTLyRE97QYj592ZAicChallenge has tried to get show but there would not be able to help.

I had segments featuring Vic Reeves and Bob Mortimer on VHS taped off Motormouth. However I used to try and record just certain segments and as my recorder was pretty crap it would invariably roll back and then either cut bits off the end of not tape bits at the start. Have a feeling the actual tape was one I offered up to anyone interested (including Kaleidoscope) and subsequently went to someone else. Can't now even recall their name. I may have done a digital transfer of the material though.
