1) What happened to the Fury copy sent to Singapore?
2) Why was the Fury can at Villier's empty?
3) Is it or is it not coincidence that the two stories New Zealand rejected from that block were found together?
4) Did Nigeria receive anything other than the four stories they bought?
My take on this is:
1) It was sent back to the BBC following (3) below, and put into a new can for storage
2) The film was removed when the sales rights to 'Fury' expired (which was c. December 1975) and the film binned; a replacement film was placed inside the now spare can
3) Probably not: the sale of Snowmen, Enemy, Web, Wheel to NZ meant that the same stories could be sold cheaply to a minor-Commonwealth country under the Commonwealth quota ruling: NZ had already junked its prints by then, so Singapore sent its sets. Since Ice Warriors and Fury weren't sold to NZ and therefore Nigeria, Singapore sent those two stories back to the BBC (and the films and,or cans ended up in a cupboard at Enterprises) [for all we know, Singapore sent everything it had back to the BBC first, and the BBC then sent the films on to Nigeria, after relabelling the cans for Warriors and Fury and sticking them in a cupboard since they weren't going anywhere]
4) Probably not, since a sale to Nigeria was piggy-backed onto a sale elsewhere, and there weren't any other minor-Commonwealth sales that Nigeria could take advantage of
I think Phil is wrong saying that since Reign shouldn't have been in found in Cyprus it is therefore proof that something is amiss with the bicycling system. The NZBC acquired three stories it never aired; but there is nothing amiss with that. The stories didn't air because of censorship. The situation with Reign in Cyprus would be exactly the same as Crusade in NZ: it was sent there because the broadcaster requested it, but it didn't go to air. It's as simple as that.
