Since it's basically computer tracing episode 2, I think the cost and time would be low

I find it should be completely missing episode or half missing as when it is below the 50 percent mark it would look strange with the surviving mixed with the animation

Don't encourage them, it's a waste of time and money which could be invested in other stories. It adds up if they go over every last orphaned episode and could hold back animating some stories by two years potentially.
I'd also point out that as BBC America were funding the animation for broadcast and they certainly aren't putting them all out in the one go, so being consistent between episodes shouldn't be a priority just in case it upsets a few DVD viewers.

I'd much rather watch the original footage where I can, I only resort to animation when we have no other choice, I didn't mind going from animation to real footage at all in releases like The Invasion.

There is that. But I imagine that BBC America would only provide funding for animations that they thought would sell well. There had been some talk about the colour version of POTD possibly being an attempt to appeal to newcomers, in which case they may well do the odd orphaned episode to make it consistent for that audience. It all comes down to their motivations behind the release in the end.

I agree. I have no problem switching back and forth between real footage and animation or tele-snap recons. Others find the experience jarring, to say the least. If it would speed up animation of more "lost" episodes, and possibly save money that could then be used animating other "lost" episodes, then by all means give me six animated Episodes and one real episode of Evil

Finally got my POWER OF THE DALEKS on dvd. Watching the color version first. I'm glad they fixed the mistakes that were in episode 1 when I saw it in the theaters.

I've also been impressed with the colour version. I was surprised they didn't colourize the titles, though, as there are some really good amateur versions of both the Hartnell and Troughton titles on YouTube...

I'm not a fan of missing episodes being animated but appreciate the effort that goes into it and beats watching telesnaps. I have vague memories of watching the POTD when I was five years old, it was a repeat screening by ABC TV in 1968. So it was with some trepidation when I decided to watch the blu ray, I decided to view the colour version to try a distract from the fact I was viewing animation and not live action. Surprisingly, I completed viewing "Power" over two nights sitting through 3 episodes at a time. The Daleks were well animated and they really captured the likeness of Bragen, Lesterson and I thought Polly looked quite attractive Ben and the Doctor were I bit hit and miss in my opinion. Overall a great effort by the animators given the time constraints. The raft of special features were also great to have, especially the Dalek voice session recording. "Dalek 8 complete, Check" "Dalek 9 complete, Check" "Dalek 10 complete, Check" ...up to 30 It's surprising that this audio recording session survives when the original episodes do not, lol. However, I must say that MArk Ayres has excelled in his restoration of the soundtrack. That he managed to create a 5.1 mix from Graham Strong's mono recordings is in my book absolutely beyond belief. This enhanced soundtrack kept my attention from start to finish of each episode. I haven't found any articles on how MArk restored the soundtrack and made the 5.1 mix. Does anyone have any insights on how the 5.1 mix was done?
