Because Gary glitter was the first act on the show ...this is why there is a noticeable edit between David jensons opening and toyah.

I thought they'd got over that nonsense of post-editing history where the acts were concerned? (though not presenters unfortunately) They repeatedly show Jonathan King, and showed GG back in the 1976 re-runs.

Since then GG & JK have both been questioned by the police recently so I guess things are still ongoing.
I was looking up Super Gran after someone mentioned it on another site & noticed it's all out on DVD though Garry Glitter has a guest part in 1 episode.

From Wikipedia:
"In October 2012, Glitter was arrested again as part of Operation Yewtree. He was bailed but was eventually charged, in June 2014, with historical child sex offences. On 5 February 2015, he was found guilty of attempted rape, four counts of indecent assault, and one of having sex with a girl under the age of 13 between 1975 and 1980. He was sentenced, on 27 February, to 16 years imprisonment."
He is a convicted sex offender who has not yet served his sentence. He therefore won't be appearing on our screens for the purposes of entertainment. The reason Jonathan King won his argument with BBC Four was that he had served his time for the crimes of which he was convicted. Were Glitter to invade Poland, that would no doubt be widely reported on the news, or in documentaries about unpleasant people. But then he's already not barred from being shown there. He just won't be being shown on repeats of TOTP, for much the same reason that Hitler didn't appear on the cover of Sgt Pepper.
