People may (!) be interested to know that the BBC has recently recovered the above episode from a European broadcaster's archive (I'm being discreet so they don't get inundated with people asking them if they have anything else!). It's a complete b/w print in good condition - no news about when the world at large will get to see it, sorry.
For those not familiar with the episode, it was addapted by J.B. Priestley (no less) from a story by Mordecai Roshwald, and was directed by Rudolph Cartier. Cast includes Keith Buckley, Michelle Dotrice and Anthony Bate.

It's great, Andrew. Thanks for informing us. But the sad thing that takes the edge off the good news is the situation of Adam Lee's 1993 junkings (see Mausoleum Club thread on "Joe"). If this sort of thing is allowed to ever happen again then it makes a joke of ever trying to recover lost material; it would mean that one programme was being taken back with the left hand and another put in the skip with the right.

This is excellent news and it's reassuring to know that missing episodes do still exist.
I understand that you don't wish to reveal where the episode came from, but can I ask how it was recovered, for example, was it just unexpectedly returned or has someone been following a lead?

Well, we can be sure Ian Levine didn't find it. We'd all know for sure if he had...

I don't know what to say to this. Especially on the day that I found the complete A For Andromeda episode.
If I hadn't delivered the goods, I might understand this snide comment, but as I also have a lead to a missing Doctor Who, I fail to see your reasons for posting it.
By the way, there are now 21 Out Of The Unknowns. There were originally eleven black and whites(ten from season one that I found at Villiers House when searching for Doctor Who episodes, and one from season two in the Brentford library), and six colours (one from season three and five from season four), then I found Level Seven, then someone else found Tunnel Under The World, then an almost complete colour episode of The Little Black Bag was found, and now Level Seven.

I made a typo in the above post.
I meant to say that I found Lambda One, but I accidentally typed Level Seven instead. Sorry.

Well, I have to say Ian that most of us really appreciate all the hard work you do finding these episodes. Please don't let the snide comments of a few get to you. I don't know of anyone else that has gone to all the trouble you have and returned more for us to enjoy. Very well done in my opinion!

I hope it's something concrete. Is it a single episode or hopefully more?

I made a typo in the above post. I meant to say that I found Lambda One, but I accidentally typed Level Seven instead. Sorry. You know it's going to feed a certian mindset, no matter how trivial the typo. Thanks with your help with The Wall of Lies 98. Next week every public high school kid in ths state will be able to read the good news... Martin -- sfsa.org.au/, the South Australian Doctor Who Fan Club, Inc.
